New New New! Recent Biz Additions to the Mighty West Seattle Retail Core

February 11, 2022 Tara Farquhar

I hope we’ve all heard the good news by now - the bridge is getting fixed, Projected to open mid-july. Make sure to check out all the new businesses in our neighborhood before they get too crowded with the influx this summer!

TOMO is a restaurant in White Center.

Okay, not technically West Seattle, but absolutely our Gatewood neighbor. They prepare food and offer wines reverent of land, labor, history, and aesthetics. They also provide an exceptional dining experience free of formality.

Good Sister helps you consume consciously.

Dedicated to providing lifestyle goods as well as CLEAN beauty and wellness products to the community. Their collection has been thoughtfully curated with USA made brands as well as brands that highlight underrepresented communities and/or causes that are near and dear to them, promote sustainability, community and love for the planet. What a statement!

Work and Play Lounge is a flexible space for entrepreneurs.

In November, Margie and Jeffrey Haywood moved their business to West Seattle from the Eastside. They live in the Morgan Junction, and I’m personally excited they get to now work close to home. This is a place where you can print, scan, meet, and even record a podcast. It has enclosed and open conference space, with furnishings that are flexible and movable to configure any kind of work environment you need.

Doll Parts doesn’t sell doll parts!

Started amidst the pandemic in 2020, Becky Bacsik-Booker and Alyssa Kaliszewski opened Doll Parts as a women-owned, sustainability-focused collective. It’s all about color, unique design, original pairings, and working with existing materials, which shows through their curated selection of goods. Oh, and they sell vintage clothes, housewares, homemade goods and more!

Strive & Uplift is more than just a gym.

Mission: Support a diverse and ever-growing community through movements and empowerment. Wow, that’s powerful. They also vow to cultivate community spaces for movement and connection, prioritize coach support for grown, health and longevity, help individual discover how to move confidently in their bodies, and much, much more. This place is positive and progressive, and very cool.
